Local Economic Development
Gonnella Frozen Products President Ron Lucchesi was joined by Gonnella Baking Company President Nick Marcucci, Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson, Cook County Commissioner Timothy Schneider, and other project partners and representatives to officially begin construction at the site.
The plant, which opened in 1980, currently employs 168 people and produces about 2.5 million pounds of frozen dough that gets shipped coast-to-coast per week. The expansion will increase the company’s overall freezer capacity from 3 million to 4.5 million pounds. The expansion will also house ingredients in a dry storage facility, employee services, and additional office space.
Update from the County Board Room
At the May 17, 2011 Cook County board meeting, the Cook County board passed a resolution that requires new procedures for workers compensation claims. The Resolution, championed by Commissioner Tim Schneider, allows for the insurance adjuster to record the conversation reviewing the details of the accident. This helps the insurance adjuster make a more accurate determination of the claim and will discourage County employees from submitting fraudulent workers compensation claims.
