Record-setting Western Illinois wide receiver Lance Lenoir revealed via Twitter that he will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
“Pleased to announce that I will accept the invitation to the
@NFLPABowl,” Lenoir tweeted Wednesday.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2017 on the campus of California State Dominguez Hills. The game will be broadcast on FS1.
Rosters will consist of both FBS and FCS players. Former NFL head coaches Mike Martz and Jim Zorn will serve as the coaches.
Lenoir ended his career as both the all-time leading receiver in WIU and Missouri Valley Football Conference history.
Lenoir is a three-time All-MVFC selection, twice earning first team honors at wide receiver (2014, 2016).
Lenoir ended the year with the second-most receptions per game (76/6.9) and third-most yards (1,093/99.4) in the MVFC. He turned in his third 1,000-yard season, the only player in WIU history to accomplish that feat. Lenoir concluded his career with a MVFC-record 273 receptions and finished third in conference history with 3,796 yards. His 29 career touchdowns (WIU record 28 receiving) finish as the sixth-most by a Leatherneck in program history.
“Sure, I have the goal and dreams of playing at the next level,” Lenoir told Prairie State Pigskin earlier this fall. “Scouts have come to our practices. All of their feedback to the (WIU) coaches has been positive. I have great film. The message has been to keep working hard and to stay positive.”
