Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties To Hold 5K & Family Fun Event

The Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc. (JLKD) is holding their first annual Readers on the Run and family fun event on Saturday, October 15th in Batavia. The event includes a certified 5K run course, a half-mile Junior Bookworms run for kids and family activities that will take place throughout the morning.

Families are encouraged to bring books to donate. Materials collected will be given to local literacy organizations such as SmartSteps and Mooseheart Child City and School. Each person who donates a book will be entered into a raffle to be drawn at the end of the run (one entry per book donation).

In addition, participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite literary characters.

The run will be emceed by NBC Chicago Executive Producer Kathryn Janicek, who volunteered because “as a professional writer, I love how this event offers kids a fun environment where they can learn more about the joys of reading.”
