Saturday July 12 features one of the best programs of the entire Arlington International season, Arlington Million Preview Day. It features four G3 stakes races on the grass course that serve as local steppingstones to races like the Arlington Million and Secretariat on the Arlington International Festival of Racing program in August.
On the east end of the Arlington grounds (second turn for two-turn races, same end as the Metra station) in the Park Area, Arlington will present a Food Truck Festival. The Food Trucks will be there from 1:00 pm CT to 5:00 pm CT. The Food Truck Festival returns for its second year and last year featured a wide variety of trucks, both from Chicago and suburban-based eateries. A live band, Mike and Joe, will also be preforming as well.
The racing on Arlington Million Preview Day is also an attraction itself with the four Grade 3 stakes. There’s a 1:00 pm CT first post and twelve live races, with four stakes races. Both Nicolle and Paul of the “Picks and Ponderings” team have broken down the races. Situated as races seven through ten on the card, the races are linked by an all stakes pick four (should the races stay on grass) with $100,000 guaranteed. We offer our previews below in a one-stop page all the preiously released information.
Race 7, Arlington Handicap
Race 8, Stars and Stripes Stakes
Race 9, American Derby
Race 10, Modesty Handicap
In addition, both Nicolle (NN) and Paul (PM) will provide below top selections in all four of the races, beyond the ones they submitted previews for.
The day after, Sunday July 13, features a handicapping contest sponsored by Arlington. The contest uses a bankroll or “live money” format”, and is capped at one hundred fifty entrants. Said live money contest features mandatory Arlington races as well as Monmouth, Gulfstream, and Belmont at-large races.
