For this year’s Illinois Festival of Racing, two changes were made to the traditional Fall festival. First, it was split over three weekends with two stakes per weekend. Hawthorne Showvivor (Fall) Day 3
Day 2 Recap: We missed the win by a short margin, but FRIENDIAN got second place in the second race at Hawthorne in the second race. A win would have been nice, but a second is good enough to make it to the third day of Hawthorne Showvivor. 330 contests remain in the contest out... Read more »

Two Months Rent Pays Big in the Hawthorne Derby
STICKNEY/CICERO–A full field of twelve three-year-olds took to the Hawthorne grass for the Saturday, and before the sophomores took to the sod, the Hawthorne turf was soaked by all-day showery rain and then by a strong downpour just before the field broke. The wet course certainly didn’t bother TWO MONTHS RENT, however. More known for... Read more »
Hawthorne Showvivor (Fall) Day 2
Day 1 Recap: When examining this race, I felt it was a coin flip between Mulata and COURSER. I went with COURSER. Smart. COURSER was third while MULATA was fourth. About two thirds of the field went out on day one (the attrition rate is high on the first day), so we attempt to make... Read more »
