Little Pockets of Time- How To Use Them Efficiently

Summer is my crazy busy season. Between work and social fun, there isn’t much time to get things done. As with any real life, things are always falling on my plate that need to be done. All I have are little pockets of time to keep me afloat.

Every night before I go to bed, I make a game plan. First I look at the concrete items on my list- work and social. Then I see what pockets of  time  I have open to get things done. Some days its less, some days more. I just roll with it.

Everything that can be done from home in the paper management category gets done early morning. These tasks include- paying bills, answering emails, and billing clients. I am an early bird and cross as much of those items off my list as possible.

For tasks that require a phone call, I have to wait a little while. I can’t very well dial people up at 5 or 6 am. I tend to make these calls between jobs or on my way phone. Yes, I use a headset.

So when you are up to your armpits in things to do, how do you choose? First of all, what has a deadline? What has to be done. That should be your first priority. For me, its returning client calls and scheduling appointments.

I also handle daily maintenance at my home so I don’t ever have a build up of items to handle. Twenty to thirty minutes a day, and my place stays in shape. Don’t let those piles and tasks built up!

So the key to managing your time is to:

1. Know how much time you have open.

2. Make a game plan of attack

3. No matter how busy you are, make sure you get a few things done each day!

And time some time out to enjoy!!
