The other day I was in a hurry. A job ran over two hours and I had plans to meet some friends out for some fun. I came home jumped in the shower, put my face on, and ran out the door. I left my work bag on the kitchen table, coat hanging on a chair, and clothes on bedroom floor. This is an extreme rarity in my life.
As with any fun night out, I was zonked when I came home. I took off my face and went to sleep. The next morning I had a job starting at 8 am in the far burbs. I got up, ate, showered, fed the critters, and ran out the door.
Needless to say, I left a trail. This isn’t the way I like or choose to live. I was on what I like to call a “time crunch”. So that afternoon, I came home and cleaned up my small piles.
My piles where small and manageable. It took me all of ten minutes to get my place back in order. So how do you keep the clutter from beginning? Here is my advice:
* HAVE A ROUTINE-When I come home, I put my coat in the closet, process my mail, and put my work bag away. Everything has a place where it lives in my home.
* DAILY MAITENANCE-This is the single most important tip for living an organized life. Clutter and piles build very quickly. Don’t let them begin. What maintence do you need to do on a daily basis to keep your space clutter/pile free?
* OHIO-Only handle it once. Don’t throw that coat on the chair- take those few extra steps and hang it up. You waste time and energy by handling things over and over again.
I hope these tips will help you maintain a clutter and pile free space!!
