Last friday, I didn’t practice what I preach. Yup, I didn’t put things away. I got off work at 4 pm and then after a quick stop at Salvation Army, I rushed home. It was Friday night crunch time. After a busy week, I was planning on meeting some friends at Maifest.
I walked in the door and threw my work bag and other items on the kitchen table. I then made some dinner and enhaled it while returning the five phone calls I had gotten that day. It was what I term at the “friday night crunch time”.
I jumped in the shower and threw my clothes on the floor. I did my hair and makeup and rushed at the door in just enough time to meet my friends.
I left a trail. Clothes on the floor, dishes in the sink, and work stuff not put away. I never do this . When I got home, threw my clothes over the chair and put my purse on the table and went to sleep. Oh, did I mention that I managed to do a load of laundry before I left that was also on the kitchen table. I am still shocked the cats didn’t nest in it. Maybe they felt sorry for me and my time crunch.
So the next morning, I got up and had to clean up my trail. In my perfect not so rushed world- everything gets put away or folded immediately. It just didn’t happen on Friday. I spent about 10 mintues cleaning up my trail. And that my friends is how the clutter begins.
Clutter and piles can begin very quickly. A few days on not putting things away will do it for you. DAILY MAITENANCE AND CLEARING YOUR CLUTTER ARE THE KEY!!
We are all in a hurry. We all wear many hats. If you can’t get things processed or put away immediately, make sure you at least get them in the right room or area.
