I spent the early morning writing a speach on work/paper flow. Yes I used to have a position in which I was chained to a desk from 9 to 5. It seems like yesterday.
The average American worker wastes up to two hours each day rehandling and looking for things. Having organized quite a few offices in my time, I have seen this happen quite a bit. The most common statement I hear is …”I know its in that pile!”
So when you need it, you pick up the pile and start milling through it. Have you ever looked to see how much time is a wasting? I have.

So depending on your position, you should create a system that works for you. The goal is to make your office user friendly. Anyone should be able to walk into your space and function.
Remember that 70 to 80 percent of paper should be read immediately and tossed.
