Sweetwater Tavern has a prime location on the Mag Mile with recently upgraded patios facing Michigan Avenue and Lower East South Water. The booths are roomy, adorned with lovely planters, and you will likely forget you’re in the middle of chaotic Michigan Avenue. While the venue is consistently abuzz, you will feel relaxed once you are positioned on the patio, which is my seating preference.
My companion and I lucked out with a first-rate booth and impeccable service on a beautiful Thursday. The venue boasts 24 drafts, along with roughly 85-100 packaged products. I never have any trouble finding brews that appeal to my palate, and this visit included a Golden Monkey (Belgian-Style Tripel by Victory Brewing Company), followed by a Black Butte (Porter by Deschutes Brewery). I was in dire need of something healthy; therefore, I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies, which were both appetizing.
Sweetwater Tavern is an ideal spot for people watching beer drinkers both inside and out. It’s easily accessible to multiple downtown attractions including Millenium Park, the Art Institute, theater district, Riverwalk, and more.
