I wanted to be near Ground Zero for the one year anniversary of 9/11, so I made a solo trek to NYC with only a change of clothes and a disposable camera in my bag. I wanted to be at the center of the Universe when we were a whole orbit away from the most frightening day I’d ever experienced.
On September 11, 2002, at the very minute the planes struck the towers, the names of all who lost their lives were read aloud at the site of the once iconic Twin Towers: roped-off rubble and heartache one year later.
For whatever reason, I didn’t have the film developed until Sept 11, 2016. The images definitely showed their age so I lightly edited them for clarity. The look of the images is surprisingly dated, but how appropriate. While it was only sixteen years ago, September 12, 2002 feels like an entirely different era in American history.
Today I want to post those images in this space with no further comment.
That’s my piece, and that’s my peace. Thank you for stopping by, today. It truly means the world to me…
