I am a rule follower...sometimes

It’s blogapalooza! What does that mean, you ask? Once a month, ChicagoNow bloggers have one hour to create a post and all must publish at the same time. The topic this month is to write about rules I routinely break or want to break…here I go!

I am a rule follower…most of the time. Rules are important to society–let’s take laws for example. Imagine a world where murder was okay, where people could drive how ever they want to on whatever they want to. Imagine a world with no rules…the thought of this sends chills down my spine.

Rules help keep things peaceful and give people control of their lives. I know that sounds strange but think about it. When people follow rules everyone knows what to expect. Sure, there are those that break laws which can cause unthinkable consequences such as murder, however, most people follow the essential laws of the land. I can tell you that I follow all rules…but that would be a lie. There are times I break a rule because I may not have known one even existed but I am not going to write about that. I am going to write about rules I break all the time.

rules

I like to drive fast–I speed. When I say I speed, I do not drive 100 mph (okay I have a few times), however, I do drive 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Have I ever gotten a ticket, yes a few times. Did that deter me from speeding…only for a short time. I see an open road and it calls out to me, “Nancy, why don’t you drive faster so that you can get to where you want to go quicker.” I think about it for a minute…or less, and I go faster. I am a careful driver, I do not drive aggressively…just fast.

The other rule I break all the time is that I have been known to see a movie in a theater then sneak into another movie…I know, I am such a charlatan. However, I do buy popcorn, a drink and some candy and I know this is where they make most of their money so I do not feel too guilty about it.

I am sure there are a few other rule I break but, to be honest, I cannot think of any other ones…must be age related memory problems.
