My Perfect Day

It’s blogapalooza! What does that mean, you ask? Once a month, ChicagoNow bloggers have one hour to create a post and all must publish at the same time. The topic this month is to write about my perfect day. Well, here I go…

I am waiting in line at the grocery store, while I am waiting, I take out my cell phone and look at my emails that were sent to me in the last 30 minutes, 20 messages that are work related, I hear a beep on my phone…I receive a text from a patient asking me a question. As I move up in line I try to text my patient but my phone rings. My office is calling me wondering if I could fix a problem…ugh, today is my day off. I pay for my groceries, get into my car. I open up my emails trying to see what I need to respond to first and I remember I have to call my patient back. If I rush home, I can put away the groceries and stop in the office to….STOP!

I close my eyes and I am suddenly on the beach. I feel the sand between my toes and I hear the ocean waves crashing against the rocks. I smell the salt in the air and I feel a breeze touching my skin, cooling me off. I turn and see a beach chair. I sit down and pull out my book. Oh how I love to read, I just wish I had more time to. I look up and there is a cabana boy asking me if I would like the beach drink of the day. Of course! I slowly sip my drink as I read, listening to the sound of perfection. The best part of this fantasy, I have no phone so I cannot get any calls asking me who I will be voting for in the upcoming election.
