I love classic rock. One of the reasons why I can’t wait until we move from the rental into the new house in two weeks is because I can finally unpack all the boxes, including the one which contains one of my all-time favorite books, “The Heart of Rock and Soul, 1001 Greatest Singles Ever Made” by Dave Marsh. My uncle gave it to me in high school and every few years I pull it out and reread it. It’s that good.
As a result, I just can’t play baby and toddler music in the car. At home I will watch all the Disney Jr. and Sprout and listen to all the Toddler Tunes they want but the car is my sacred space. It actually creates a safer driving environment if we listen to my music. After all, I can listen to “Wheels on the Bus” only so many times.
Of course, so much on the radio is not exactly child-friendly. That doesn’t mean I turn the channel.
Here is my list of top 10 songs that, yes, maybe I do need to think twice about next time with my 6-year old and 2-year old in tow. In keeping with the spirit of my Dave Marsh book, all of these were released in 1990 or earlier but are still heard on the classic rock/pop format channels from time to time around here.
