Never mind it being Friday. Today, Aug. 13, is International Left-handers’ Day.

That’s, er, correct — a day to celebrate being left-handed and to “raise awareness of the everyday issues that lefties face as we live in a world designed for right-handers,” as the official web site explains.

If you say you are left-handed, you are. But www.lefthandersday.com features a test, “How left-handed are you?”

I tried the test in case you don’t want to. How’d I do?

My score came out Seriously left-handed. Really!

  • Lefties, unite! I salute you for an excellent post, too

  • In reply to Weather Girl:

Thank you! I hope your holiday is going well.

  • Thank you for the link to the website, too. I didn't know this stuff!

  • In reply to Weather Girl:

You're welcome. It's a fun site, and very reasonable. Of course, I'm still smiling at my Serious rating.

  • Lefties' Day falling on a Friday the 13th? A sinister coincidence if you ask me.

  • In reply to Grundoon:

Well done, Grundoon, it is. I remember exulting one day when I had to do a chore in the yard with my right hand. When I told my dad I was becoming ambidextrous, he smiled and said that if I were, we'd all be in trouble. He reminded me that "ambidextrous" means "two rights," so he came up with "ambisinistrous" as my goal (from ambi and sinister, which I admit is for left). I still haven't achieved that yet, but at least I got my goal straight.
