Porter rounds up his Ramblers to take on the Youngstown StatePenguins

First year head coach Porter Moser inherited a talented, not so athletic young Loyola team. On the verge of catastrophe after four losses to open up the season campaign, Porter got his Ramblers back on track and focused on picking up the pace for a successful and ultimately, winning season. Coming home to the Gentile Arena as well as solid play from Ben Averkamp  emerged to be the top two reasons for the winning streak Loyola toyed with for four games.

Now after back-to-back Horizon League losses at home, the Ramblers are 5-9 overall and win less in conference play (0-4), entering a three game road stretch.

Rambler Notes
Loyola is coming off a two game home losing streak to HL teams Wright State and Detroit, both surprising losses in the ever friendly Gentile Arena…Porter Moser has his squad playing lock down defense despite the recent struggles. The Ramblers are shooting 82% on free throws during through past 5 games…Freshman guard Joe Crisman has now had a game to recuperate and will attempt to re fill his once pivotal role.

Youngstown State Notes
The Penguins commenced the season with a hot start, 5-1 and then cooled off losing 5 of their past 8 contests and now sit at 7-6 overall…In their most recent game, the Penguins edged Horizon League leading Cleveland State 73-67, hinting  at their ability to beat tough teams…Kendrick Perry is their leading scorer with 15.1 ppg…DuShawan Brooks is their three point threat, owning a season 47% average from behind the arc.
