Some friends of mine are collecting socks for their Annual Sock Drive to donate to the Open Arms Food Pantry in Antioch, Illinois. I donated last year, and then this year my friends, Joao and Mark, and I pooled our money to go in together to buy some. Our $60 didn’t really go very far, but we did buy a few different sizes. I headed to the store, and began in the men’s section, headed to woman’s and infant’s, then finished in boys and girls. It is a great way to give back, and I loved picking them out. It took me forever picking out my favorites. I don’t usually let myself buy the pattern ones like these because plain black or white ones are cheaper and seem more sensible. Perhaps I should have done that for the donation too, but these are so very cute. I have some cute ones that I have been given as gifts, and occasionally I will buy myself seasonal ones that make me feel happy. With this gift, I hope to give others more than just socks. I want the people who receive them to feel a little joy as they pick out a pair to wear each day. Do you usually wear “sensible” socks like me?
