It’s so easy to just stay in especially on cold days in Chicago, however on Friday night a group of people planned to go out to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I wanted to go, but I was tired, and it was freezing out. I drank some coffee and took a short nap, but still I had to convince myself to go since I was already cozy and warm home from work. I decided that like the quotes from Robert Louis Stevenson, “A friend is a gift you give yourself” and Samuel Johnson saying, “If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself left alone. A man should keep his friendships in constant repair,” I needed to go. So I went, and I had such a great time with a wonderful group of people. Anais Nin said, “Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive.” This is an interesting concept for me to think about since I am pretty set in my ways and how I am, but I do see that different people bring out different qualities in me. I will keep pushing to learn about myself and others, making new friends and celebrating with the friends that I have. It’s a good life.
