Tonight’s Blogapalooz-Hour challenge was to say which is better- Thanksgiving versus Christmas?
For this challenge I thought of writing about the positive parts of both holidays, but as I started to create the lists, there were many of the same reasons on both. I decided that the best part about the time from Thanksgiving through Christmas or New Year day is spending time with those I love. Even though we head out to shop, decorate and prepare for the holidays, the snow and cold weather often keep us inside and together. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, La Posada, St. Lucia Day or any others that I have missed, this season is a time for family, reflection and celebration. I may not love the season of winter in Chicago, but as Dame Edith Sitwell was quoted, “Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: It is the time for home.” May this season bring you closer to your family and friends, as I know that mine will.
