Review: A Star Is Born (No spoilers)

Ever since I saw the trailer for the new A Star Is Born, I have been excited to go see it. I rented the last two versions of it, and have read every article I saw about it. The day finally arrived; I saw it Thursday night. Amazing!

Favorite line or message of movie: Jackson Maine said to Ally,Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And the one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear.”

Did the storyline hold my attention? The movie is more than 2 hours long, but I did not want it to end. There is a lot of singing and concerts, but I enjoy that so it definitely held my attention.

Could I understand what was happening? Unfortunately, I rented two of the three previous versions of this movie, so I had an idea about what was happening and about what was possibly going to happen. I wish that I had not known anything about the story so that I could just enjoy it as the story unfolded.

Did I care about at least 1 character? So many people are talking about Lady Gaga being nominated for her role as Ally in this movie. I do think she did a great job, and I did care about her character, yet Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of Jackson Maine was amazing. His character was so flawed, yet so human, that I could not help but care about him.

Did I think about or talk about the movie when it was over? Yes, there were so many layers to this story that I can’t stop thinking about it. As a creative person with aspirations to share my words and pieces of myself with others, the story about pursing your dreams and not being influenced by other people and outside factors touched me deeply.

Would I see this movie a second time? Definitely, I am anxious to see it again. I told everyone at work the next day how much I loved it. Who is ready to go?
