Today as I post my last day of gratitude, I am thankful for a month of gratitude. I know that sounds redundant but focusing on the good each day has helped me become more aware of all that I have in my life to be thankful for. I have read before that a parent or teacher should notice and comment when children are getting along and to refrain from only interceding when they fight, to diminish the attention given to the negative behavior. Expressing gratitude is similar to that for me. Can I look for and focusing on the good things in my day?
I talk and pray to God when negative situations occur, but what about when my life is going smoothly? I do remember to say thank you when something really fabulous happens, but what about the every day people and situations? Thank you for the sun. Thank you for my family. Thank you for my job. Thank you for my health. Thank you for the health of my loved ones. Thank you God for food, clothing and shelter. Thank you for my coffee. Thank you for money. Thank your for my library. The list could go on and on. What if I woke up today with only the things that I thanked God for yesterday? What would I have in my life?
All through my day, no matter where I go, or what I do, I am always looking for the good. I try to find the good in people, in the world, in my life or even just in my day.
