It is difficult for me to rely on others even though I sometimes need to. and I know that it is good for me to need others. My parents raised me to be a very competent person. I learned how to cook, clean, pay bills, shovel snow, mow the lawn, check my oil, do laundry, hook up electronics, paint a room and more.
My mother and father expected a lot from me, but they also taught me by their example. My father was very hard working when he was alive, and my mother still is. Because I have always been able to do much of what I set my mind to do, I rarely have to ask for help. I somehow feel like I am not competent when I can’t do something without someone else’s help.
George Arliss said, “Humility is the only true wisdom by which we prepare our minds for all the possible changes of life.” As I get older though I realize that I like to help others and enjoy being needed by others. Even though it is difficult, I want to let others help me since I know how wonderful that feeling is when you assist those you love. I am going to try and be humble and ask for help when I need it.
All through my day, no matter where I go, or what I do, I am always looking for the good. I try to find the good in people, in the world, in my life or even just in my day.
