6 Best Amicable Breakup Songs

My favorite line of Woody Allen’s amicable breakup movie, Annie Hall, is his narration at the end that begins like this:

Alvy Singer: [narrating] After that it got pretty late, and we both had to go, but it was great seeing Annie again. I… I realized what a terrific person she was, and… and how much fun it was just knowing her.

I’ve ridden a lot of roller coasters in my lifetime and once they end and everyone is unlocking their seat harnesses, you never hear anyone say, “GOD DAMNIT What jerk stopped the ride? Now that we’ve stopped, the entire experience of that ride was completely ruined!”.

Instead of complaining, all the riders are too busy smiling and cheering and telling their friends about their favorite part of the ride and how they can’t wait to ride again.

Amicable break ups are tough, but here are 6 songs to remind you that you aren’t the only person in the history of mankind to endure one.

  • That was sweet, I have never known anyone with an amicable breakup. My stepmom told me that when she and her ex were officially divorced, he turned and said to her, I wish you well. She replied, I wish you lung cancer.
So this amicable breakup, new concept!

  • Thanks Keezus!

Your stepmom showed a lot of restraint by not wishing him brain or liver cancer. Plus people can survive lung cancer, she could've wished he gets eaten in a shark feeding frenzy.

I've never been married, but I imagine it's a lot harder to end a marriage in a friendly fashion than a relationship of a few months, which is where all of my experience lies.
