Chicago's holiday season is just like a Christmas carol. Plus, a new twist on a classic, from my dog.

Shopping and parties and baking, oh my! The holiday season is in full swing.

Here in Chicago, neighborhoods are decked with the lights and colors of the season. The CTA Holiday Train is spreading shrieks of joy, and adding more bustle to rush hour. Theaters big and small are putting on festive plays. Choirs are singing. Sturdy trees in parks, busy sidewalks, and all of that – just out of a carol.

In Uptown there has been a Winter Walk ending with a tree lighting at the Wilson station, a menorah lighting in the Jewel parking lot, and the 12 Beers of Christmas at Fat Cat (my personal favorite).

Here in my house, too, we have gotten caught up in the spirit. My dog, Bogey, wanted to make you all a special gift this year. Because he understands that sometimes the holidays can be tough, he wanted to remind you of Julie Andrews’ Maria and her words of wisdom to think on good things in times of sadness or fear. (Self care, amirite?)

He hopes that sharing some of his favorite things with you will bring a smile to your face. Enjoy.
