Training with a weighted vest, 5 Favorite Exercises

It is funny to think that training equipment in the fitness industry can become hot and trendy.  But weighted vests are in style.  I prefer the Hyper Vest PRO  because it is form fitting and has a snug vest.  Most equipment is made for the frame of a man.  This particular vest fits my 5’2 frame perfectly.  I am even able to cinch it super snug around my waist.  This particular vest adds 10 extra pounds.  The vest holds steel weights firmly and comfortably on your body allowing for dynamic movement.  The material is called compression fabric and does not constrict your breathing so you are able to take full breathes.  The small vest (which is my size) can hold up to 22 pounds.

I started wearing my HYPER VEST PRO in the fall.  Of course I do not use it all the time.  But I go through phases where I add it to my training, particularly when I am doing mostly body weight training.  So I decided to share 5 of my favorite exercises.  The truth is I have many more exercises that improve my overall strength.  The most valuable asset of adding a weighted vest to your training is the enhanced endurance.  Other benefits include improving :

  • balance
  • strength
  • even strength your back

The most obvious professions that benefit from weighted vests include firefighters, construction workers, military or anyone who carries varies loads of weight on a daily basis.  If you are interested in adding a weight to you vest it is best to begin with the standard 10 pounds. It is not suggested to add more than 12% of your body weight.
