After inking Brent Seabrook for the next five seasons, Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman will focus on his six restricted free agents.
The six RFAs include: Corey Crawford; Troy Brouwer; Michael Frolik; Chris Campoli; Viktor Stalberg; and Jake Dowell. There’s a chance Bowman may try to get some of the RFAs signed before the season ends.
“That’s kind of the order of business over the next few weeks and months here. We certainly wanted to focus on Brent. He’s instrumental in what we accomplished last year and over the last couple of years,” Bowman said. “We wanted to make sure he was locked up.”
“We do have some players we need to address as well. Some of those we’ll get to in the summertime. I think there’s always an interest in trying to get things done ahead of that. But, at the same time, you don’t want to create a distraction with certain players.”
“So, now that we’re through the trading deadline I think we’ll take a little bit of time. We’ll kind of plan out how we want to approach the few guys we have left and we’ll see if it makes sense to do that prior to this summer.”
