When “Pro Bono” IS the Job Search …

Wish I had something “meaty” to pass along to you this week, but it’s been a whirlwind and I’ve not had a lot of navel-gazing time to come up with some “post theme”. Usually busy = good, but most of my busy right now is unpaid, so I’m less enthusiastic about that than I would be if I was logging actual billable hours. Now, one of the three planning meetings w/follow up projects is paying … a client which used to have me on retainer, but hasn’t had any hours for me for two months … needless to say, I’m glad to have them back on my calendar, if for just a smattering of design and coding. The other two are “pro bono” at this point, both being non-profit projects, but they each have the potential of turning into something that would be a few dozen paid hours a month … so that’s good too.

The best news of the past week was that I got an interview (I believe I mentioned this in my last post), and, while I didn’t leave it thinking I’d “hit it out of the park”, I take it that I’m one of 2-3 finalists for the position (which would be a contract, not a full-time job), and we’ll see where the chips fall on that. The other bit of good news is that I appear to still be in play on another position which I’d been very excited about, but had ended up afraid that I might have been passed over on. The hiring manager had been out of the country for a while, and I’d not heard anything for weeks, but when I touched base with his office on Friday, they set up a follow-up phone meeting … and it they were going to blow me off, they had a perfect opportunity there, so I can only assume that I’m still being considered for that.

I know I’ve bitched about webinars in here quite a bit of late, but here I am with another that I’m suggesting you check out. It’s coming up next Tuesday, run by “Social Recruiter and Job Search Strategist” Jim Stroud. The webinar, “How to Find Hidden Jobs Online” is free, but you need to register: HERE. Stroud has a whole YouTube channel full of informative videos, so I’m guessing this one is going to be worthwhile … I’m planning on being there.

Anyway, we have a fresh dozen eggs links for you today … hope you find them helpful:
