Hot Chip preview June release with "Flutes"

Boy, Hot Chip are hitting their stride.

Not only are all members engaged in side-projects (The 2 Bears, New Build), but together they’re releasing an album promptly every two years. I love it when a band seems to be as excited about music as I am.

If you click on the large words above these smaller ones, it’ll take you to an NME article (a pretty on-it British music mag) previewing the new album In Our Heads (slated for a June 11th release). There’s also a video for what may well be the first single “Flutes” (and a tracklist for no real reason).

[ Here’s the actual link –> ]

The video is a little dizzying, but the music picks up right where the last album left off. This is a real dance-jam, with pounding drum beats and Alexis Taylor’s angelic voice drifting around the rhythm (I could listen to the guy sing a shopping list).

2010’s One Life Stand was super-fantastic, catchy electro-dance music. As was 2008’s Yello-influenced Made in the Dark. AND 2006’s slightly quieter, darker The Warning.

See? Wasn’t kidding about their ridiculous (is it an English thing?) promptness.

If you’re thinking about catching up with Hot Chip, the time is now.
