Q&A with a ChicagoNow blogger: Marie Larsen of There’s A Bug In My Coffee

When you are given a directive, an idea, or thought, you may or may not understand why, but  you must “just do it”.  When I became a blogger, I was not sure about its potential growth, following, nor outreach capabilities, but thanks to Jimmy and the ChicagoNow Blogger Day idea, I was introduced to someone that would help me understand and define my role a little better.

On last week, I was afforded the opportunity to meet and talk with Marie Larsen, the author of There’s A Bug In My Coffee. A Christian blogger, wife, and mother of 2, Marie was able to share not only an hour of time with me, but also form a bond as an accountability partner with tips and ideas to support and sustain my own blog ministry!

Although I had only allocated about 30 minutes for this interview, we ended up sharing and talking so much that we failed to  notice time flew by and we were recording for over an hour!  We discussed fears, faith, Facebook and more! I have posted the sound byte below for your personal pleasure. (Please Note: The adorable baby is my dd…and I am unsure of how to remove and make deadline –smile)

So, if you don’t want to listen to the shortened version, I have shared some of the tips Marie gave during our call below.  These tips not only apply to blogging, but to life in general!

  1. If you feel like writing, do it!
  2. Write for your blog as often as you can, it is a learning process. Doing so will help: a) build your audience and b) form a writing habit
  3. Know your purpose and stick to it.
  4. Don’t ever feel pigeonholed.
  5. Stay attentive to what is going on in your life.  This often leads to great posts.

  6. Be true to who you are.
  7. Stay in Your WORD!
  8. SPEND Time with GOD!
  9. Be faithful, He will reward us.
  10. Don’t overthink it!
  11. Move out of your comfort zone.
  12. Being disciplined makes us better.

Everything happens for a reason, and although we may not see or reap the benefits in this season, continue to write, plant and sow!  For there will come a time where what you have planted or written will come back and bless you tremendously! I thank God for using Jimmy to connect me to this awesome blogger!

I now have an Bloggy accountability partner, so watch out world, I’m on fire!
