Kankakee River Fishing Report

Ed Mullady of the Sportsmans Letter sent me a Kankakee River Fishing Report.  Ed has been coined as being the Godfather of the Kankakee River.  I’d like to share it with you.

Hi Don! For those who don’t mind the colder, wet weather, some nice fish are being caught along the Kankakee!

In Indiana: Point, north of English Lake , Rt. 55 Shelby & Thayer areas.

In Illinois: State-Line to Momence, Aroma Park, Kankakee, IL Dam to Johnson’s Fisherman’s Park, Sawmill Creek through Willow Island and beyond at Kankakee River State Park, Wilmington Island Park.

Smallmouth bass hitting good on Mepps #2,#3 Spinners, 3-4″ minnows, Rattlin’ Rogues.
Walleye fair to good on jig and minnow, Doctor Spoons, jointed plugs.
Northern Pike good at creek mouths, edges of bayous and in water logs on weedless Dr. Spoon, Mepps #5 spinners, 4-6″ minnows.
Catfish good, esp. during low light hours on 4″ to 6″ minnows.
Croppie good along shoreline-water logs, brush piles on pinkie jig, Croppie slider, *2-3″ minnows.

Best to you… Ed Mullady
