MarCum Technologies’ “Live Fish Cam” now playing 24/7 online
Minneapolis, MN – How many species of freshwater fish can you identify? Check out the live underwater video feed online, and see if you can find and I.D. each of the 20 plus fish species that call Minnesota waters home.
The Live Fish Cam has been strategically placed inside the Minnesota State Fair Fish Pond, which is operated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is a pilot project between MarCum, the Fair, and the DNR. Each year at the Fair, the popular Fish Pond draws big crowds of curious children and adults, anxious to observe trophy-sized fish of their favorite species, as they mingle with dozens of their brethren.
This year, the DNR has partnered with MarCum Technologies to provide a 24-hour live underwater video feed of the Fish Pond. The Live Fish Cam streaming video feed will run the entire duration of the State Fair, August 26 through September 6, 2010.
Check in often to see numerous species, such as walleye, muskie, bowfin, longnose gar, rainbow trout, white bass, smallmouth buffalo, paddlefish and many others. See exactly how fish act at dusk, high noon, and during the dark of night, all in crystal clear live color video. If you’re lucky, you might even be there during periodic minnow feeding times–and catch a rare feeding frenzy in action. You’ll notice, too, that the fish act completely calm and natural around the camera, often bumping right into the lens.
The underwater camera itself–a top-end MarCum VS825SD– features an exclusive auto-adjusting iris that efficiently gathers available light during different times of the day (and night). A built-in LED light source also provides excellent nighttime visibility. As the camera optics gathers the image, a high-resolution video signal is displayed on a sunlight viewable LCD color monitor.
The same MarCum VS825SD camera system in use here becomes available to consumers in mid October at outdoor retailers everywhere. Visit marcumtech.com for more info on underwater video cameras for use in your own favorite lake, river or fish pond.
