Fishing is good on the Kankakee River

I just heard from Ed Mullady who is the Godfather of the Kankakee River.

Many know Ed from being the publisher of the Sportsman’s Letter, one of the oldest fishing publications in our area.

Ed told me that the Kankakee River and its tributaries are in good fishing condition!  In Indiana, largemouth bass good, espically at the Point, north of English Lake on jig and double twister tails *minnows *plastic worms.
Laramore Ditch near Rt. 39 & 8 is good for pike on minnows, spoons and #5 Mepps spinners.

In Illinois Walleye fishing good east of Momence on crankbaits, jig and minnow.

Wilmington Area on minnows, Jig and twistertails.  The fishing is fair around Park.

At the Kankakee River State Park the Smallmouth Bass are good on minnows, plastics and crankbaits.  Try around Nature and Timothy Islands.

As the warm weather arrives, the fishing will just get better.

Thanks for the report Ed.
