If you’re hunting for a new community, the Tribune’s Communities page can be a good place to start. Unlike many sites that are relentlessly upbeat, the Trib typically mentions some of the issues that might concern newcomers – but you’ll sometimes have to read between the lines to spot them.
This week the Tribune’s Leslie Mann focused on Glendale Heights, touting its diversity and affordability.
The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey highlights some of Glendale’s notable demographics: the population is more than 25% Asian, more than 25% of the households rent, and household and family sizes are notably larger than the US averages.
According to Redfin, the median list price of a home in Glendale Heights in August was $136K, and the median sold price was $118K.
