Adult Beginner Hockey Classes at MB Ice Arena

Adult Beginner Hockey Classes at MB Ice Arena
MB Ice Arena

MB Ice Arena, the official training facility of the Chicago Blackhawks, will be offering hockey lessons for adults, starting later this month. The lessons cost $150 for nine one-hour sessions; that averages to $16.66 per class, which is a good price. It looks like these classes are geared towards absolute beginners, so if you have yet to try hockey, this might be a good opportunity for you.

However, the time slots aren’t very favorable. Classes are either early in the morning on a weekday, or late Friday night. The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday morning classes
8:10 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.
March 13, 2018 to May 15, 2018

Thursday morning classes
8:10 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.
March 15, 2018 to May 17, 2018

Friday night classes
10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
March 16, 2018 to May 18, 2018

These classes do not require you to have full equipment; participants need skates, helmets, gloves and shin guards.

I hope these classes are popular. If so, maybe the folks at MB Ice Arena would consider adding lessons for adults at a higher skill level, too, much like Johnny’s Ice House and The Skatium in Skokie have intermediate and/or advanced classes. I’ve been playing hockey for about four years now, and while I have so much to learn, I’m at the point where a class for an absolute beginner won’t help me much anymore.

But if you haven’t laced ’em up yet, maybe give these classes a try. You can read more about the adult hockey classes at MB Ice Arena here or register for the classes here.
