After fifty years, I'm still looking for the meaning of "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys"

A few years ago, I was having a discussion about the Traffic album, “The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys.” The person I was talking with claimed it was the best album of the 1970s decade. Although I loved the band and the album, I was more than a little skeptical. I did the research to... Read more »

Classic albums from 1971 are now fifty years old. Are you still listening to them?

Pearl was Janis Joplin's final album. It was released months after her death.
1971 was a great year in the genre of classic rock. We still had artists from the British Invasion era making music, while at the same time we witnessed the start of the singer-songwriter era. There was a lot of something for everyone. The albums from that year will reach the fifty-year mark in 2021.... Read more »

"Moondance" was Van Morrison's third album. Between this and t l he earlier "Astral Weeks", he moved far away from "Brown Eyed Girl." Fifty years later, Morrison has produced forty-one studio albums and is still going strong.
If you’re from my generation, classic rock is probably your go-to genre of music. Yeah, you may try to pretend that you’re cool and hip enough to love newer types of music, but we always seem to come back to theĀ songs and records that we loved when we were young. 1970 was a big year... Read more »

Playlist for the Trump administration

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eB5bIa4zLEE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
In a town of cronyism, Donald Trump really is the "New Kid In Town".
During campaigns politicians have songs that they think relate to them. They play them at all their rally’s and their conventions. Why not have songs that describe the new Presidency? Here are some tunes for the new President: In spite of the snarkiness of these songs, I really so want things to go well for... Read more »

Steve Winwood In Concert: The Oldies Are Comforting

Steve Winwood In Concert: The Oldies Are Comforting
Steve Winwood is one of my musical heroes. For me, after the Beatles, it’s Winwood and Eric Clapton. If that was all the music I could ever listen to, I’d be okay with just those three. I’ve been listening to Winwood for close to 50 years. It started in 1966, with Gimme Some Lovin and... Read more »

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
