On the fiftieth anniversary of "At Fillmore East", by the Allman Brothers Band, can you still handle twenty-two minutes of "Whipping Post?"

July 6, 1971. Fifty years ago today, The Allman Brothers Band released their classic album “At Fillmore East.” At that time it was considered one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. The main piece of controversy to the album was the length of some of the songs. Record executives felt that tunes such as... Read more »

Classic albums from 1971 are now fifty years old. Are you still listening to them?

Pearl was Janis Joplin's final album. It was released months after her death.
1971 was a great year in the genre of classic rock. We still had artists from the British Invasion era making music, while at the same time we witnessed the start of the singer-songwriter era. There was a lot of something for everyone. The albums from that year will reach the fifty-year mark in 2021.... Read more »

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
