Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" at fifty: An album that should have got them elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

When you think about music from 1971, what comes to mind? Is it the legends of classic rock such as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who, who are at the top of their game? Maybe the Singer-Songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, David Crosby and Graham Nash, who all released albums that... Read more »

Classic albums from 1971 are now fifty years old. Are you still listening to them?

Pearl was Janis Joplin's final album. It was released months after her death.
1971 was a great year in the genre of classic rock. We still had artists from the British Invasion era making music, while at the same time we witnessed the start of the singer-songwriter era. There was a lot of something for everyone. The albums from that year will reach the fifty-year mark in 2021.... Read more »

My 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

Joe Cocker is one of the great singers of the late 60's-70's. "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" is one of the great live albums.
Yesterday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced their class of 2018. The inductees will be the Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and the Zombies.  I would normally take this space to argue why or why not they are deserving of the honor. Not today. I’m okay with results although... Read more »

We're hoping for a "Sunny Afternoon" but I'm afraid it will be mostly cloudy.
We’re just hours away from the eclipse. People are traveling all over the world to see the sun and moon come together. For some of us, it’ll be our last chance to witness this phenomenon. It’s easy to find a viewing party….and if there’s a party, there needs to be music. Here’s some tunes to... Read more »

    Howard Moore

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
