On Bob Dylan's 80th birthday, here are some of my favorite cover versions of his songs

Happy Birthday to Bob Dylan. Today he turns eighty. That’s right…80!! While I’m a big fan of his songs, I like them better when they’re sung by other artists. So to celebrate another decade of Bob, here are a few of my favorite Dylan tunes, interpreted by some of Bob’s friends. Mr Tambourine Man-The Byrds.... Read more »

Why should anyone be surprised Bob Dylan is selling the publishing rights to his music for hundreds of millions of dollars?

Why should anyone be surprised Bob Dylan is selling the publishing rights to his music for hundreds of millions of dollars?
2020 has been a tough year for working musicians. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they’ve been unable to tour. Playing live music is the basic way they make money now. The days of huge royalties through record sales and radio play are long over. Don’t even get started about money coming in from streaming groups... Read more »

On the anniversary of his death, a look at the life of George Harrison

George as a young child.
From 1964 to 1970, he was one of the four most popular musicians in the world. He didn’t write or sing many of their songs, but you could hear his instrument on every single tune. He very rarely was out in front when on stage performing, but the band wouldn’t have been the same without... Read more »

Rolling Stone’s new list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” was published this week. RS first completed this exercise in... Read more »

Twenty musicians who suffer from hearing loss

Three of the four members of The Who have had hearing issues and the only reason the fourth, Keith Moon, didn't is because he died forty years ago. Pete Townshend is almost deaf. John Entwistle became a lip reader to overcome his hearing loss. Roger Daltrey is now the musical voice of safety when playing/listening to music
Yesterday, I wrote about hearing problems due to listening to loud music. Today’s followup is a look at musicians who have these same problems. While these musicians are mostly loud rockers, there are some surprises. Here’s a gallery of musicians with ear issues:   Related Post: Do you use ear protection at concerts? Type your... A long night with Bob Dylan

A long night with Bob Dylan
It was an old voice at a new building. What could go wrong? Bob Dylan, the poet of my generation, opened up the new Wintrust Arena, in Chicago’s McCormick Place area. The building itself looks beautiful on the outside. It was nicely lit up in purple lights…very attractive. And then you walked inside and blah. Plain.... Read more »

The Week In Review: June 26-July 2

We start with a Trump tweet. In this one, he blames Obama for not doing anything after finding out about Russian hacking in the election. DUDE...you should be on your knees thanking him every day. If he said a word, you'd still be selling property and cheating people out of money. I'm pissed at Obama because he kept it on the downlow. Who knew Don and I would ever agree on anything?
It’s been a great week. Lot’s of snarky stuff in politics, music, sports and food. Let’s bring it on!!! That’s all for another week. The times they are a changing...and not for the better

The times they are a changing...and not for the better
Politicians….pfffft!!! It’s December. In Chicago that means it’s cold and snowy. And this December has been very cold and very snowy. The Illinois state government has been at odds over the budget for two years. No one is willing to compromise. When that happens, the people that tend to get hurt the worst are those who... Howard Moore

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
