I’m here! Today was the first official day of the DaVinci Wine Storyteller experience here in Vinci, Italy. DaVinci Wine is sponsoring this trip for me and three other artists. Today, we checked into the Casale di Valle, a villa that noble families used to use as a hunting lodge. We ate lunch at Adriano in Cerreto Guidi and had Florentine style Bistecca, the most delicious piece of meat I’ve ever tasted.
We also learned how to make and knead pizza dough from Chef Anna at the hunting lodge and tasted the four DaVinci wines that are currently available in the United States. I will write more in-depth about the wine later, but I will say that the Brunello de Montalcino, which retails around $45 a bottle, was the group favorite! Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, this wine was full of dark berry fruit both on the nose and on the palette.
I’ve been taking so many pictures, too many to post here–but if you’re interested, you can see all the photos here.
