Bottle Review: Freixenet Cordon Rosado; the Perfect New Years' Wine

Search no further. I’ve found the perfect, cheap bottle of festive sparkling wine for your New Year’s Eve delight and debauchery: Freixenet Cordon Rosado or a Brut Rose Cava, in short.

Retailing anywhere from $7-13, this bottle is a perfect for New Years. It’s cheap. It’s good. It’ll go down easy. And it’s pink and bubbly, which is fun and your guests will think they are drinking something expensive. Don’t tell them it’s a cava and they’ll think it’s from Champange.

My girlfriends and I opened a bottle last week, and we were surprised to find out its price. It tastes like a $20-bottle. Fruity and dry with the right amount of acidity you expect from a good bubbly. According to the web site, only one place carries it in the Chicago area: Heritage Wine Cellars in Niles.

Get here fast–because this wine is buy-a-case worthy on the He Sipped/She Sipped scale. Enjoy!
