Giveaway: August Ziegler Pinot Noir

Giveaway: August Ziegler Pinot Noir

Hello Readers!

We’re putting together a list of the best wines for the summer, which will run next week, in time for summer’s official beginning (and for the rain to stop, hopefully, here in Chicago).

And we’d like your input.

So, tell us your favorite wine to sip over the summer. We’ll try to find some of these picks and include a reader’s choice in our list.

To entice you to share, we’re giving away one of our recent favorite summer bottles: a 2007 August Ziegler Pinot Noir Pfalz.

For an anniversary gift, She Sips’ parents bought us a case of this wine, which we had reviewed during our Fine Wine Brokers in Lincoln Square entry.

Awesome gift, huh?!

Since we can’t possibly drink a dozen of these this summer (we have so much wine to drink now, afterall), we’re giving you a bottle. That’s right–you just have to follow the rules below to enter the contest and a bottle of this light and refreshing red is yours!

  • I love Beckman's rose in the summer.

  • Our favorite is summer wine Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
It is crisp and lemony and goes well with a lot of our summer meals.

  • Wimberley Plum Wine and Salt Lick BBQ! FTW!

  • Sunstone syrah rose. Great winery in the San Ynez valley.

  • Cloudy Bay Sav Blanc FTW!!!

  • Good and cheap summer wines? Catena

  • How about a Grgich Hills Estate Fume Blanc? We had the 2007 at a Sushi pairings event and think it worked wonderfully so aim seafood, perhaps. But we also noted it as being a sit in the sun and quaff bottle too... Little bit of citrus comes through, not much wood if any. We called it crisp.

  • Croteaux is wonderful on a warm day and pairs well with all sorts of summer dishes

  • I am feeling uncouth reading these other posts, but I just like a good Sauvignon Blanc? Maybe Giesen was the name of one I liked?

She Sips, you won't be surprised to hear that I actually still like bourbon on the rocks, even in the summer (lately it's been Buffalo Trace).

  • In reply to wileenie:

wileenie - I'm sure Eric G (who posted above) approves. He's a big fan of Buffalo Trace.

  • In reply to wileenie:

The only way to go is with a bottle of Larochette Manciat Macon Les Morizottes (any vintage 2005-on). This is the perfect White Burgundy that goes with anything Summer! CRISP!

  • In reply to wileenie:

My new favorite summer wine is Cass Oasis Rose that I bought at Lush.
