The Star Wars Episode 7 Trailer: Shot by Shot Analysis

We watched the new trailer for Star Wars Episode 7, The Force Awakens, thirty-four times this morning. The teaser doesn’t tell us much, but it does tell us some. There will be people in this movie. And droids. And flying things. And sand. Lots of sand. Some people hate sand. It gets everywhere.

In the following gallery, I have provided my expert opinion as a lay person who’s seen the original Star Wars movies a bunch of times in childhood, but not too much since then, and as a person who’s only seen the prequels one time each. So, obviously, I know what I’m talking about. But I’m also probably the kind of person J.J. Abrams most wants to court with this film. I’m not a Star Wars super fan, but I have nostalgia for the brand and I respect Abrams and I want this film to be good and do well because I love movies, especially good ones.

And, yeah, this trailer tells me this is not going to be your daddy’s (depending on how old your daddy is) Star Wars. I’m on board.

What did you think?
