40 Bags in 40 Days: Day 1

In case you missed it, I’m taking the 40 Bags in 40 Days challenge. Starting today, I will be removing (at least) one bag of stuff from my house. So far, so good. One day, one bag of garbage.

40 Bags in 40 Days, Day 1

Today’s Project: Junk drawer under the bed.

History: The way I remembered it was that I just took this drawer from my parents’ house and moved it with me, as is, to each new place in my adult life. I was pretty sure that I had not even touched this drawer since nigh about 2003.

Findings: I must have gone through this stuff more recently than I remembered, because it was not in the bad shape I feared. There were some weird things, however, and the entire drawer was flooded with old photographs that I will have to go through for real someday. Today is not that day. There was, sadly, no tuft of hair from my old dog, Bo, but there was a lock of hair from my son’s first haircut. And while I could’ve sworn I’d kept an envelope full of passed notes from high school, it was not in this drawer. Perhaps it’s in some bin above the garage. I guess we’ll find out toward the end of Lent. Stay tuned…
