Just like zombies themselves, the zombie craze refuses to die. The Walking Dead and now Fear the Walking Dead are keeping the zombie party theme, well… alive. So, it’s no surprise that my Halloween 2015 events list includes multiple zombie jamborees.
This is obviously only a small fraction of what Chicago has to offer geeks on my favorite holiday. So, after the list, please share your Halloween plans in the comments section! First, as promised, the place where I’ll be ending my Sober October at midnight:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30th, 2015:
Walkerween – I’ll be spending Friday night hiding from zombies at the first-ever gathering by Sable Luxury Events. WALKERWEEN will have drinks, a live DJ, and of course, a costume contest judged by yours truly. Even though it’s a Walking Dead-inspired event, all costumes are welcome! I’ll be dressed as Ruby from Supernatural. The crowd looks to just be a few dozen people as of yet, so do consider coming! You’ll definitely have quality time with me, and you WON’T get eaten by walkers. …Who am I kidding? I can’t actually promise that. (Friday, October 30th, 2015. 8PM-midnight. Space 1858, 1858 W. Grand. $10 suggested donation. 21+. Facebook.)
Violence of the Lambs – Human zombies too scary for ya? How about SHEEP zombies?? …OK, yea, still pretty scary. My friends at Lakeshore Beverage are welcoming 3 Sheeps Brewing to Chicago with this undead event. Part horror film, part video game, the evening looks truly unique. The highlights will be a sheep zombie movie screening (really!) and an exclusive brew. …The beer may or may not have blood in it, as implied by the AWESOME 8-bit video below. Welcome to Chicago, 3 Sheeps!! (Friday, October 30th, 2015. 8PM. Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee. $8.50, buy tickets HERE. Official Site * Facebook.)
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st, 2015:
DuPage Comic Con – Halloween can’t halt or even postpone this event by Mighty Con. In fact, the holiday is making the convention even more fun! The usual hall of vendors will be amped up with trick-or-treating at every booth AND a costume contest with a cash prize. Fans who pre-order tickets get an extra 30 minutes on the show floor. Going early means more time for evening Halloween party plans! (Saturday, October 31st, 2015. 10AM-6PM. DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Rd., Wheaton. $8, buy tickets HERE. Facebook.)
…I tried to resist, but ever since I said “Zombie Jamboree” at the beginning of this post, I’ve felt a mighty need. Fine. Here it is:
