Scouting report
Flowers has plus power, especially for a catcher, but the question is whether or not he can stick at the position. The Sox and Flowers keep saying there are no plans to move him, but that doesn't mean they won't some point in his Major League career. Flowers' bat has the potential to overcome being a below average defensive catcher, but some think his future is as a first baseman or DH. Flowers has huge power and draws a lot of walks, but struggles to make contact. He loads up on his swing creating a lot of swing and misses, resulting in an alarming strikeout rate. The Sox have tried to shorten his swing, but the results weren't positive. Defensively, his catch and throw ability is a work in progress. He will need to improve his footwork when he pops up to throw, but his arm seems passable otherwise. He seems to work well with the pitching staffs and his blocking ability is decent enough. At this point strikeouts are as much of a concern as defense.

Major League Outlook: Poor man's Jim Thome at who knows what position (if any)
