JPNese 9/8

It all ended with a whimper.  A 2-1 loss that seemed almost orchestrated.  Hanging fastballs, defensive indifference in the 8th inning in a 1 run game.  The Barons players excitedly claiming that they would be swinging at everything.  Wouldn’t have been the first time though, in 2007, the lowly Barons squad played their last game... JPNese 8/26

Well…break up the Barons.  They’ve gone 8-6 over the past 2 weeks and seemingly increased their win total by almost 25%.  Fantastic timing.  With 11 games to go in the season and a 9 game deficit in the division, it’s more than likely that come Labor Day afternoon, the players will be packing up to... So basically, if I don’t show up, the Barons win.  I missed the games on the 9th, 10th and 11th due to recovery from “surgery.”  No need for painkillers, I’m a man.  Anyway, they won all three games, taking 4 out of 5 in the series and have succesfully avoided the dreaded 100 loss season.  Whoopty... JPNese 8/3

The Barons had a decent homestand this time around, taking 3 out of 5 from Chattanooga.  Don’t get too thrilled though, Chattanooga had only one good pitcher and that was game 5 starter Rubby De La Rosa.  The Barons are now up to 37 big wins, but are at 70 losses, which guarantees a sub... JPNese 7/21

The Barons have reached rock bottom.  30 games under .500 for the season.  The only goal I can see for them for the rest of the season is to make sure they win at least 8 more games so that they avoid 100 losses.  With 44 games left to play, and with the Barons averaging... Read more »

JPNese 7/12

The Barons continued to disappoint as they wrapped up the first half on the road.  A three game sweep of Montgomery capped a six game winning streak that had started at home against Mississippi.  The M-Braves got revenge by gaining a four game sweep to bring the Barons back down to Earth.  This is the... JPNese 7/4

So, the Barons didn’t suck so bad this week.  I’m not going to gush about splitting a series with Mississippi, but it’s better than my previous prediction.  The week didn’t start out so well, losing the first three games and looking bad doing it.  Throw in a rainout on Tuesday, and things looked bleak yet... The Barons suck.  There, I said it.  I’ve been beating around that bush all season long.  They’re on pace to win 48 games.  48 games.  That is out of 140 for the entire season.  That is the reverse of their win/loss total from 2009.  If they’re not careful, they could end up losing 100 games. ... JPNese 6/19

I apologize for the lateness of this week’s edition.  The Barons had been out of town for ten games, so there really wasn’t anything to talk about.  Plus, due to the stifling heat and humidity and the heavy rain, I haven’t seen much baseball so far this homestand.  And no, I chose not to apologize... JPNese 6/10

I must be the grim reaper for ballplayers. After speaking of my fondness for Barons infielder Justin Fuller, the fruit of the Jim Thome trade, he was released the following day. His numbers were very poor, so it wasn’t entirely unjustified. I’ll try in the future to keep my mouth shut in regards to players... Read more »
