Fool Me Once: Good seasons by OK prospects, part 1

When I was a young girl, my father took me into the city to see a White Sox game. He said “Owens, when you’re called up, would you be the savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?” As it turns out, Jerry Owens was not the savior of anything, not that the Sox... Read more »

Charlotte Knights third basemen since 2006 - an examination

Charlotte Knights third basemen since 2006 - an examination
I have entered the Pit; I have seen what lies beneath. I traced the career path of the third basemen with the most playing time each year for the Charlotte Knights since 2006, Joe Crede’s last really good year with the Sox. And have I come out better for it? We’ll go backwards in time.... Read more »

White Sox claim LHP Eric Surkamp from Giants

The White Sox claimed left-hander Eric Surkamp off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.  Surkamp provides some depth (or insurance) for a rotation spot, and hints that the Sox are still at least considering trading another starter. Surkamp was listed by MLB.com as the Giants’ 12th ranked prospect last year, and was among the organization’s... Read more »

FutureSox Prospects of the Month: May 2013

The second month of the season has looked much the same as the first did for White Sox prospects. The same big names are doing well and, for the most part, the same big names are struggling. It sounds like some promotions may be in order soon for some of the prospects on the good... Read more »

White Sox All-Draft Pick Team

White Sox All-Draft Pick Team
The White Sox have gotten a lot of flack for their drafts, more specifically draft spending. They have had some good picks that developed into solid ball players so let’s take a look at the best of that group for the last decade (2001-2010). This is an attempt at a 25-man roster based on the... Read more »

White Sox System Breakdown: Infielders

Gordon Beckham was a gem for the White Sox infield. He rushed through the minors and made an impact with the big league team not long after being drafted. Once Beckham graduated to the bigs the minor league system has lacked depth around the horn. Brent Morel and Dayan Viciedo (if the outfield experiment doesn’t... Read more »

Offseason Catch-up

It’s been a long offseason and we’ve been dormant for various reasons. The White Sox are playing their first spring training game so that’s a good enough excuse to being our 2011 coverage. First, let’s get it started by recapping some bits and pieces of the offseason in the White Sox minor leagues. The offseason... Read more »

FutureSox Post-Season Top Prospects List

FutureSox has published our 2010 Post-Season Top Prospects list! We publish the list three times a year – early April just as the minor league season begins, July after the draft picture gets solidified and the minor leaguers have part of a season under their belts, and then in the fall after the minor league... FutureSox Prospects of the Month: August/September 2010

Reed was a third-round draft pick this year and as a college pitcher he was expected to dominate rookie ball, but boy did he dominate. The Sox moved him to the bullpen after just two starts and it didn't phase him. Since the start of August he allowed just two runs in 22 innings while striking out 35 and walking just four, including two perfect innings in the playoffs. Reed was one of a number of high 2010 draft picks that did well this year.
The minor league season, playoffs included, is over. The White Sox are officially eliminated. It’s time FutureSox closes the book on in-season coverage for 2010 to make way for postseason prospects rankings, awards and other fun season-in-review features we’ll come up with. The Great Falls Voyagers lost in the first round of the Pioneer League... Read more »

Brent Morel next to earn September call-up

Hot hitting Brent Morel will make his Major League debut in the coming days. The third baseman was added to the 40-man roster and called up while the White Sox moved Erick Threets from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL to make room for Morel. Morel has been one of the most productive... Read more »
