Scouting report

Snodgress, like many other early round pitchers drafted by the White Sox, has a big frame. What makes him a bit different from the typical mold the Sox draft from is that his secondary pitches are decently far along and his fastball was inconsistent in college. Snodgress went back and forth between low and mid 90s and his production wasn't consistent either, struggling with control. In his pro debut with Great Falls in 2011, the control was much improved (17 BB in 59.1 IP) and the strikeouts were there (68). The fastball was better (consistently 91-93) and his solid curve and workable change gave him success as a starter. In 2012, Snodgress jumped into the prospect forefront, by posting decent results at Low-A Kannapolis (3.64 ERA, 84 K, 49 BB in 99 IP) and strong numbers at High-A Winston-Salem (1.50 ERA, 44 K, 15 BB in 42 IP). But that was the end of his solid performance thus far. After 1.5 seasons struggling as a starter in AA, he was converted to relief work in AAA Charlotte and for a brief (and ugly) stint in Chicago. Recently non-tendered and removed from the 40-man roster, the club is said to be looking to re-sign him to a minor league deal, but it is obvious they have soured on his prospects.

Major League Outlook: Lefty specialist reliever most likely, outside shot at back end starter
