Scouting report
Morel was originally better known for his defense than his bat as a prospect, but he started to change that later in his minor league career. The Sox moved him quickly through the system and he did well at every stop. He raised his profile by winning the batting title in the Arizona Fall League in 2009. Morel projects to have at least decent power. He is a good contact hitter with a solid line drive swing. He is faster than most third basemen and is an above average base runner, which allowed him to steal some bases in the minors. He has good range to go with his plus arm. John Sickels made a Joe Randa comparison and that seems like a fair projection.
