The White Sox absolutely have to claim Raudel Lazo who was just designated for assignment by the Marlins. He had a fantastic year and has been good his entire minor league career. He's 27. He is a relief pitcher. I've never seen a player with these kinds of stats DFA'd. I realize stats don't tell the whole story, but someone has to get him.

With minor league's playoff system being split between half seasons, do they have a playoff after the first half or just include all the teams and have the playoffs at the end of the season?

  • Jim, they have the playoffs at the end of the season. Depending on the league and how many divisions each league has, a team will clinch from each division in the first half of the season and automatically get a playoff spot for the end of the season. Another team from each division will clinch a playoff spot at the end of the second half of the season. I hope that makes sense.
